The Beta-2 Glycoprotein 1 IgA (B2GP1 IgA) test detects IgA antibodies against Beta-2 Glycoprotein 1, a protein involved in blood clot regulation. This test is used to evaluate the risk of Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS), an autoimmune disorder associated with abnormal blood clotting. While IgG and IgM antibodies are more commonly tested, IgA may be useful in patients who are negative for IgG/IgM but still suspected of APS.

🔹 Strong Positive: Suggestive of APS or increased clotting risk, especially if combined with IgG/IgM positivity.

📌 Additional Notes:

  • B2GP1 IgA is less studied than IgG/IgM, but it may be relevant in certain APS cases.
  • A positive result should be confirmed with repeated testing after 12 weeks, along with other APS-related tests (Lupus Anticoagulant, Cardiolipin antibodies).
  • If APS is diagnosed, anticoagulant therapy (warfarin, heparin, or DOACs) is typically required to prevent clots.
